How much rest is needed after cataract surgery?

I am a 48 year old female. I want to know how much rest is needed after cataract surgery?

You need to consult with your cataract surgeon to address the question.

Alan J. Franklin, MD, PhD
For standard uncomplicated surgery I recommend taking the day of surgery and following day with no scheduled work or activity. No exercise, bending, heavy lifting or sex for 1 week. Certain lenses, types of surgery, and patients need longer.
The recovery from cataract surgery is not focused on rest. I would jokingly answer, “just the right amount, not too much and not too little”. It’s important not to lay directly on the eye and to wear the eye shield for at least one week.
That is a highly individualized answer that only your surgeon should answer.
Best of success.

It depends on the exact method of the surgery and what you mean by rest. Certainly not bedrest but also not working out in the gym doing lunges and bench press immediately after. Discuss your lifestyle with the surgeon.
