Is a cortisone shot a nerve block?

I am a 31 year old male. I want to know if a cortisone shot a nerve block?

No. Cortisone shots are given into joints. Nerve blocks are when a local anesthetic (numbing medicine) is injected around nerves to numb them. With that said, a steroid can be mixed with the numbing medicine to prolong its action, but is not the same as a cortisone shot.
