Platelet transfusions are generally safe, although there are rare transfusion reactions and even rarer infectious complications.
Platelet transfusion is generally well tolerated; some reactions could still happen.
There is a risk with any procedure, but I have never had a patient who had an adverse reaction to a platelet transfusion.
