Is anesthesia for a root canal safe?

I will have a root canal. Is anesthesia for a root canal safe?

Absolutely yes
There are always potential complications with any medication to include local anesthesia. But for most people having root canal treatment when live tissue is present can be extremely unpleasant and therefore the benefits of having less pain far outweighs the potential complications. In my experience only septicaine has caused an allergic skin reaction in more than a few cases, but these were self limiting and generally resolved with in a few hours using otc Benadryl.
Interesting question. Lets assume that you are referring to local anesthetic. As long as you have no allergies or other contraindications, local anaesthetic is very safe when administered in the correct doses. Your BreatheSleepDoc, Simi Silver, DDS www.silverdentalcentre.com www.TMJSleepCentre.ca
It is very safe to anesthetize a single tooth or a segment of the mouth for a root canal procedure.
