Not that bad
Hello,

We would be more than happy to have you come in and have our board certified doctors to full evaluate your ankle. With that being said, this evaluation may allow our doctors here at the New Jersey Foot and Ankle Centers to do a less invasive surgery that allows for a faster recovery and could possibly be the least painful approach.

Thank you!
Not significant, usually Mild to Moderate pain a few have almost no pain and a few more do. We usually have a Popliteal Block which gives almost 24 hours of relief before it wears off and then traditional pain meds if needed.
It is not unusual to expect some discomfort from any type of surgery. Everyone has different tolerances to pain. Speak with your surgeon who will most likely provide you with a prescription to minimize your postoperative pain.
There is always some degree of pain involved with any surgical procedure. There are multiple factors involved: ie - your individual tolerance of pain; the skill of the surgeon in performing the procedure; and the extensiveness of the procedure being performed.
In ankle ligament repair surgery if the procedure performed only involves operating on the soft tissue (ligaments or capsule) then there should be mild to moderate pain for 2 - 4 days. If however, the procedure involves cutting into or drilling through bone then one could experience moderate to severe pain for 4 - 5 days. Any pain should be easily controlled by proper usage of pain medication.
Basically during the surgery mostly patient are put under anesthesia and there would not be pain. After the surgery your surgeon can either give you local anesthesia which could help for few hours.
Then depending on your pain tolerance you can take oral pain medication for a couple of days or weeks .
If the surgery is performed arthroscopically , there would be minimal incisions which also help for pain and incision complications. hope this helps.

Every patient will have a different threshold for pain. Pain level can also depend on the extent of the surgery. All surgery will create some pain or discomfort to a certain degree. With regional anesthesia and a multi-modal pain medication plan, the majority of my patients have expressed very little discomfort after surgery and that their pain is well controlled.
That type of surgery usually is done under iv sedation or general anesthesia. surgeon preference. please talk to your surgeon regarding your concern.
Pain is usually modest.Depends on how your tolerate pain.
Any surgery will likely have some pain in the recovery process. I recommend you discuss with your foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for your particular case
Pain is something I find to be variable in my patients. Some patients experience a great deal of pain after surgery, some have very little. Your physician should give you narcotic pain medication for pain-control after surgery.
