No an endoscopy is not painful. Your doctor will have you asleep for the procedure. I recently had one myself and didn't feel a thing. When you wake up your throat might be a little sore but that passes quickly. It is a very quick procedure, no more than 15 to 20 minutes. Just make sure you have someone to take you home due to the anesthesia may make you off balance. The doctor will let you know right away if he found anything and give you any instructions on what to do. I hope this information helps.
Any type or kind of surgery may be painful and this also speaks to the type of endoscopy you will be receiving. There is a consent and/or disclosure form you may have to sign and your doctor may administer and prescribe pain medication for afterward, and a sedative for before the procedure. You may ask any questions prior to in order to ease your mind about the process. Good Luck!
No the procedure is not painful and you will be given medication to help relax you, you could possibly have a scratchy throat after the procedure but with fluids you should be fine the actual procedure is very short you will need a ride home after for your safety.
