Minor knee surgeries are often done with local anesthetic injected into the knee and skin. However, for major surgeries like knee replacements, you need major regional block (like spinal anesthesia) and/or general anesthesia..

No, it’s mostly done under general anesthesia and some places still do it under spinal anesthesia, when both legs are numb for 4-5 hrs and in the operating room these patients receive intravenous sedation on the top of the spinal anesthesia.
Depending on the surgery, general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia are usually used. Local nerve blocks can also be used to enhance post op pain control along with the above.
It depends on the procedure you are having done. Most likely you would require a general analesthetic or a spinal anesthetic for an invasive knee procedure
It can be done under local anesthesia or under nerves block
If you are having a knee replacement, it is usually done under a regional - which is local anesthesia via a spinal. If it’s a reconstruction of your ACL or a knee scope it may be done under General anesthesia or spinal depending on patient, surgeon and anesthesiologist
