Local +/- IV sedation
I prescribe a mild oral sedative to be takes prior to the procedure and then use local anesthetic for the specific treatment area(s)
In most cases local anesthesia is used.
Yes, vein treatments are all done under local anesthesia these days. Patients tolerate these procedures very well. It’s important to remain calm, get a good night’s sleep, stay well-hydrated pre and post-operatively and take a scrub shower the morning of procedures. Sometimes if procedural anxiety is an issue a light sedative can be taken 1-2 hours prior to the procedure. You will have to arrange a ride if you do take a sedative on the morning of surgery. Good luck with your surgery. This is it and it's perfect! Make it a great day.
Yes depends on patients health status and pain tolerance. Browse answers to similar questions on this website. Most patients a combination of local anesthesia and IV sedatives/pain meds.
