Nutritionist Questions Fasting

Is taking in a juice fast good for health?

I am planning to undergo a juice fast for detox. Is it a safe and healthy diet?

Yes it can be
Yes as long as the juice is made fresh by you on a daily basis. If you are planning to use store bought juice make sure it is pressed and not from concentrate.
I would not recommend it. Juicing has no fiber which helps slow down the spike in your blood glucose. Continued spikes in blood sugar is a potential risk for developing prediabetes/diabetes. If weight loss is your ultimate goal, assuming you're a healthy individual, burn more calories than you intake per day. I would suggest seeking a dietitian so plan what is best for you to meet your needs. Thank you for your question!
A juice fast can help to detox the body on a short term basis (one day) but the body needs amino acids (building blocks of protein) and some other nutrients to properly complete the detox process. Many of these nutrients are lacking in a juice fast so I advise you add a quality protein powder that has some detoxification factors to the juice fast.
