OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions

Is this a lump or, a cyst on my vulva?

I'm a 59 year old female. I have a lump or, a cyst. I'm not really sure what it is. It's on the outside of my vulva at the side of my vagina opening it's seems to be soft and, firm it's slow-growing..When I first noticed it was there it was only a very small bump which has gotten bigger through the years. It's been there for years. I'm really scared. I know I should have gone to see a doctor many years ago for a biospy. .it really doesn hurt except; sometimes when I have sex it does. What is this? Is this serious is this cancer.? What is the cause? Do I need to have this removed or, just drained? If it needs to be removed can the biospy be taken at the same time? How long should the biospy results take? Is a local anesthesia given? And, is there any special prep before that has to be done? What is the recovery time? Also, how long do I have to wait until I can have sex? And, What are the chances that this will grow back?

It is very likely a cholesterol plaque. I suspect you have elevated cholesterol or hyperlipidemia. If you have a PCP (primary care phyisician), I would discuss ways of addressing your overall health status. This does not need to be removed. It does not appear to be related to cancer. it will not drain any thing. If you want to have your gyn look at it to confirm for a second opinion you should absolutely do that. If you don't have a PCP, I highly recommend that you find one and follow up.
Probably be drained under local anesthesia if it has to be removed it would prob require anesthesia. If drained would prob be ok in a few days. It removed maybe a week. Consult you physician for further evaluation
It is difficult to make a diagnosis with a picture. The only advice I can give you is to see a GYN doctor for evaluation and treatment.
