Endocronologist (Pediatric) Questions Pediatrician

Is this serious or not?

Hi, I'm a 15 year old female and yesterday after a plane ride, I started experiencing certain symptoms of both food poisoning and diabetic ketoacidosis. I felt dehydrated, dizzy, had nausea, headaches, fatigue, frequent urination, and my whole body slowly started tingling all over. Today I still feel the same but not to such a harsh degree. I just want to find out if I have diabetic ketoacidosis or something else that needs treatment.

Have you already been diagnosed with diabetes? Some patients are first diagnosed when they appear in the Emergency Room in DKA. Diabetic ketoacidosis is a serious and life threatening condition that needs to be diagnosed and treated immediately! Severe dehydration and acidic blood can lead to cardiovascular collapse and death!
You definitely need to see your physician immediately, or go to the nearest emergency room immediately!
If you have urine ketone strips, use them. If positive, it could indicate DKA, but may things can lead to ketones in the urine including starvation. My recommendation is that you go to the nearest emergency room for evaluation.
You need to go to Emergency as soon as possible !!
