Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Questions Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Is this the correct oral thrush medication?

Hello, I have had an oral thrush infection since July. My ENT specialist prescribed a course of Fluconazole in September, which didn't do anything. I went back for a follow-up visit yesterday, and he prescribed Nystan for 14 days, and Azithromycin for 10 days. I'm a bit wary of this last one, as I know that it's an antibiotic, and yeast infections are supposed to get worse with them. Should I follow his prescription and take it, or am I right in thinking I shouldn't?

You need to ask the physician if he meant for you to take the antibiotic? Change your toothbrush out for a new one.
Hello,

Since I have not seen you and don't have the full history, I will answer to the best of my knowledge. I think you should take both medications as was given; since your thrush didn't heal, there is a possibility of systemic disease, some types of infection, so the antibiotic should cover it and the NYstan is for the thrush. If you also use baking soda to clean your mouth, it helps.
I hope I was of some help.

Thank you,

That’s sounds right, sometimes oral thrush has secondary infections and the antibiotics is important.
