It is important to rule out a DVT or clot if you have a swollen and painful leg. This is an urgent condition that requires an ER visit. If you have had an injury that might explain the pain it may require a visit to your physician for evaluation and further imaging.
This may be a sign of a blood clot. You should seek the care of an emergency room or see your primary care physician as soon as possible.
One sided swelling and pain needs to be worked up to rule out a deep vein thrombosis. If any chest pain or shortness of breath, is a trip to the ER. Otherwise need to get a doppler study or ultrasound of your venous system to make sure you don't need any urgent treatment.
Hi, this is Dr. palmer. My concern is that you either have a popliteal cyst from a knee injury or meniscal tear but you also need to let out a deep vein thrombosis if your calves are also swollen this can be done in the emergency room or an urgent care center and I would do this as soon as possible. All the best. Michael A. Palmer, MD.
