I've had an abscess on my gums for a week, and my body temperature has only been around 97.5 for two days.

Your body temperature doesn't sound like a concern, but you should get the abscess checked out by a dentist as soon as possible.
That body temperature is still in the normal range. See your dentist if your gum condition does not improve in a few days.
