Low potassium?

I've had severely low potassium for over a year. I've been to my PCP, hematology, endocrinology, and nephrology. None of them can figure out why it's low. My lowest was 2.9, I was given a supplement and sent home. Only to have to go back to the ER 2 days later. I went to the ER 4 times in one week. I take a daily potassium supplement but I want to know if there's other natural supplements I can take? I had to stop taking one manufacturer because it made me sick. Supposedly, there are problems with manufacturing potassium now so the potassium that I don't have issues with is not available. I was told by a doctor to not stop taking it because I will die.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear this. Have you tried incorporating high potassium foods into your diet? Some include: bananas, oranges, cantaloupe, honeydew, apricots, grapefruit (some dried fruits, such as prunes, raisins, and dates, are also high in potassium) cooked spinach, cooked broccoli, potatoes, sweet potatoes, mushrooms and peas.

If you're looking for natural potassium supplement, make sure it has the USP verified mark on its label. This will ensure it is high quality, does not contain harmful levels of contaminants and is made in safe, sanitary and a well-controlled environment.
Bananas are top K foods, but one has to continue investigating the cause.
