My left side is hurting sharp pain beside the hip. Pain comes and go.

There are many possibilities that could create that issue for you. It could be a soft tissue problem like bursitis or a tight ITband, potentially hip arthritis, as well as an issue from your lower spine. A more thorough evaluation and history could provide a better understanding.
