“Pulsing in neck?”

Complaint duration: 15 days
Medications: Vitamin D; lisonopril; meds for frequency; generic Lipitor; just started prilosec
Conditions: GERD; htn; bladder frequency

Pulsing in the anterior neck, just above the sternal manubrium, could be seen infrequently in healthy adults, especially those with lower BMI, as well as with some disorders. In the absence of symptoms, normal radial (wrist) pulse, and no significant findings on neck CT, the most likely explanation would be a normal variant. Patients with aortic insufficiency would have a jumping pulse at the wrist, groin or soft palate.
