Should I take medications for gastritis?

I was diagnosed with gastritis. Should I take medications for gastritis?

Yes, I would recommend taking a proton pump inhibitor like Prilosec or Nexium for 3 months and then stop the medication and watch your symptoms!
Also, I recommend changing your lifestyle for example - early dinner, avoiding caffeine or alcohol, and avoiding spicy food.

Depends. Gastritis usually does not cause symptoms unless it is acute.
Many times, patients are told they have gastritis but no testing was done to prove it.
If there really is gastritis then it is important to try to determine if there is a cause for the gastritis, e.g. from H pylori infection.
