“Should I take pain medicine before dental implant?”
I will get a dental implant next week. Should I take pain medicine before a dental implant?

It is not necessary to take pain medicine before your implant placement. Depending on the medication, it could prevent proper bleeding and blood flow. Take medication only as indicated by your treating dentist.
Yes, although implant surgery is generally a simple surgery, taking medication prior to treatment makes the postoperative period shorter and more bearable.
That is a great question to ask your dentist because it really depends on what you can take, if you are being sedated, how big of a procedure it will be, etc. Always ask first because some pain medications can increase bleeding risk and interact with other medications your doc may prescribe!
Great question. If it will make you feel better take Tylenol before and ibuprofen afterwards. You should do great!
You should take two tablets of 200mg of ibuprofen, which brings you to a total of 400mg... approximately 1 hour before your procedure. Taking pain medication before undergoing an oral surgery procedure will reduce the inflammation afterward. If you only start taking it after the procedure is completed, you won't get the same benefit! Just a little trick!
There is no need for pre-operative pain medication. However, depending on your medical history, taking Tylenol and/or ibuprofen may help alleviate some post-operative discomfort. Typically, the procedure to place a dental implant causes significantly less soreness than having the tooth extracted.
I have found that there is no need for prescription pain medication. Most patients say they have taken a small dose of Ibuprofen or Tylenol after the procedure and they have been fine.
Every practitioner protocol is different. Please consult with your surgeon or dentist. The medication that you take can interfere with surgical process I.e bleeding.
I normally give my patients a combination of ibuprofen and acetaminophen before a surgical procedure if there is no medical contraindications. Please check with your provider first before taking any medications.

After your procedure you will still be numb for an hour or so, so you should take some pain medicine (Advil/Tylenol or both) shortly before the numbing wears off.
You do not actually need pain meds prior to surgery but definitely need for post-operative pain control.
If you can tolerate Tylenol based on your health history then it’s ok to take that before surgery. NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications) such as Advil or Aleve are usually not recommended before surgery, as they may increase the risk of bleeding. Taking an Opioid for pain control should be discussed with your implant surgeon as they may administer this through your IV if you are being sedated. Any and all medications should be discussed with your surgeon prior to surgery.
