I am a 48 year old male. I want to know if I should go to the emergency room for kidney stones?

If you have severe pain, fever, vomiting, can't get urine out then yes.

Assuming the diagnosis is confirmed you don’t always have to seek emergency care for a passing kidney stone. I recommend you discuss with and devise a plan of action with your primary care physician.
