Get a check up. It could be tendinitis or more of a rheumatologist condition. Your doctor should order an inflammatory test called a sedimentation rate or ESR.
With your history it's advisable to go in to have a proper acute care appointment. This could just be a pinch nerve or muscular pain in the upper back causing shoulder pains especially if you're laying on a bad mattress. But it could also be a sign of something else, Sometimes someone has a shoulder pain and it's referred pain from somewhere in the middle of the torso like gallbladder or spleen or even lung involvement. Some people experience back and shoulder pain if they have pneumonia or fluid on the lungs because of heart failure. Given the history of asthma and heart failure you need to be examined by physician, They might even have to do an x-ray, But ruling out severe stuff not only gives reassurance but helps focusing on the Most likely problem to fix it

It seems like a type of arthritis. recommend bilat shoulder x-ray and serum uric acid level to rule out gout.
