Tonsilitis?

My 18 year old daughter just had a bad case of tonsillitis. The throat culture came back with group B strep. Is this cause for concern! Aren’t most infections like this group A?

Yes Group B is likely a contaminant and not a cause for concern. The cause was most likely a virus. Feel better!
Yes, you are right. Most strep throats are caused by group A strep. Having a different strain of strep does occasionally occur but is not anything to be concerned about. It will respond to the same antibiotics. It is not a sign of anything being wrong.
