Empty calories simply means that the food has no nutritional benefit for you as a human being. Foods such as chips, cookies, crackers, cakes, creams etc. Dead or nutritionally empty foods are very harmful to the body.
Empty calories are calories that are container in products that don’t bring you any nutritional value- like pop soda, plain sugar or sugar in different candy forms, excessive amount of carbs, especially simple carbs (bread, pretzels, etc)... they are burned fast, with minimum amount of energy and the excess gets deposited in the body in the form of fat. Eventually will bring a lot of harm to the body, if not burned by exercise, leading to resistance to insulin and ultimately diabetes with all its complications.
