The most common risk of it is discomfort and or bleeding or hematoma. Your surgeon will decide if he’s going to put a drain. Risk are usually minimal and the most common complication is that the ears bounce back and go back to their preoperative appearance or they appear asymmetric having one year looking a little different than the other. Discuss these concerns with your surgeon before you have the operation .
You need to specify the type of ear surgery you are having.
There can be contour deformity or asymmetry between the ears after ear surgery, relapse of the condition that indicated the procedure, or even chondritis, or inflammation or infection of the cartilage. While complications are uncommon, an experienced surgeon should discuss these with you before your procedure
