What causes Bartholin cysts?

I had a UTI, for which I was prescribed antibiotics. The day after the UTI ended, I developed a Bartholin cyst, which lasted a week. I then developed another cyst, on the other side, also lasting a week. (so each cyst lasted one week. This was the first time I've experienced this. How long should I wait before shaving down there again?

Bartholin gland cysts are not generally caused by shaving, folliculitis (infected hair follicle) is caused by shaving. It may be better to wax or use hair removal creams to help prevent folliculitis. The Bartholin gland cysts can sometimes recur and if they do the gland needs to be removed.
