Most people do not have pain after cataract surgery. If you are having pain, there are multiple possible causes of pain to the eye after cataract surgery. Your eye pressure may be high, this is checked between 3 hours and 1 day after cataract surgery. You may have a corneal abrasion or other changes to the surface of the eye that can cause a range of sensations from mild discomfort, tearing, feeling of sand in the eye to intense pain. Everyone has some inflammation after cataract surgery, depending on the amount of inflammation, this may be another cause of pain or discomfort. If you are having pain after cataract surgery, you should see your cataract surgeon.
Could be increased pressure, could be just the trauma of having surgery, could be a dislocated lens, etc. Depends on the patient.
After any surgery to any part of the body, there's always a risk of pain, infection, and bleeding; it is a common response from the body. You may possibly be feeling the incision site or the potential inflammation from the actual surgery itself. If the pain does not seem right to you, you need to see your ophthalmologist immediately.
