What could be the cause of breathing issues in a baby?

My baby is having trouble breathing. What could be the cause?

It depends on what you mean by trouble breathing. Babies are often congested because their noses are very small and they cant blow yet like we can. Humidifiers help in this situation because it keeps the mucous from getting thick and clogging the airways. Viral illnesses are the most common cause of congestion. If they are truly having difficulty breathing (rapid breathing, color change around lips, fatigue) they need immediate evaluation to figure out what the issue is.
The answer could be many things - a stuffy nose - cardiac issues - lung issues - your baby needs to see their pediatrician to determine what is the issue.
