Lots of things! Endorphin release, Pain gating. Nerve downregulation. Blood flow stimulation. Muscle relaxation. Increased joint play. Improved movement. General feelings of well being :O)
After a Chiropractic adjustment, you should feel better motion through restricted joints, less muscle tension in areas that were tight, and sometimes overall relaxation.
Chiropractic adjustments help the body to communicate better throughout the nervous system in order to promote bodily functions and healing. After the first adjustment the body may find relief of symptoms or feel sore from the alignment, it's just like working out. It would all depend on your body's response to the adjustment and how severe the misalignment / subluxation is at its current state that needs to be corrected. Just like braces for the teeth, your spine is used to the state it was in throughout life, it's not a one and done thing, it takes time to correct and align years of bad posture, bad habits such as looking down at your phone in what we call "tech neck"!
These are the 3 things your chiropractor wants for you after treatment;
1 To feel better
2 To be better aligned
3 Have your body systems, for example, blood flow, muscle relaxation, digestion, etc., work better
Miracles can happen after your first treatment, however it often takes longer depending on where your body is at when you go in for care, how well your body responds, and how much you follow up with the recommendations your chiropractor gives you to support your recovery.

A chiropractic adjustment will help the muscles around that joint that was adjusted to relax. It will also release endorphins that will give you a feel good type feeling after a chiropractic adjustment.
The adjustment allows the body send and receive signals at an optimum level. This will allow your body to heal itself more efficiently.
