I have receding gums and it keeps getting worse. What is the best treatment for receding gums?

You may have periodontitis which could be a serious condition! Depending on where the recession is and how severe it is and how old you are the treatment varies. Best treatment is usually gum surgery and/or deep cleaning and medications. Your general dentist may refer you to a gum specialist (periodontist) for appropriate treatment.
Surgical intervention may provide the most noticeable improvement but the usual reasons for recession are clenching and grinding habits followed by over aggressive home care

Brushing, flossing, listerine mouth rinse, and regular visits to the dental hygienist. After this, there is the periodontist that can graft gum tissue.
Stop brushing your teeth too hard and have your teeth cleaned twice a year.
