A facelift procedure typically involves improvement of the lower third of the face jawline and neck area. Although you should see immediate contour improvement following the procedure there is a period of bruising and swelling. This is usually greatest in the first 2 to 3 weeks which may prevent Someone from being seen publicly because of the bruising and swelling. Most of the swelling is not apparent after three weeks however there is still some firmness, especially in the area under the chin and neck area. This may persist for a couple of months. The final result for a facelift is usually 4 to 6 months After the procedure when all of the swelling is gone, and the skin is back to a supple soft nature.

The facelift result will be fairly obvious by 2 months. The swelling will have resolved, and the black and blue will have disappeared. Sincerely, Robert Dryden, MD
