General anesthesia is preferred. You could also do it with spinal or regional anesthesia depending upon the level of the operation.
Typically we use general anesthesia; this would mean fully unconscious with a breathing tube in place. Some surgeons will do the procedure under spinal anesthesia or a type of nerve block (with some sedation), but the vast majority would use general anesthesia.
General
Usually, general anesthesia. Rarely may be done under spinal anesthesia or local anesthesia.
General endotracheal anesthesia
General anesthesia.
General anesthesia
A general anesthetic is typically used, which means an anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist puts you to sleep and put a breathing tube in your airway.
The most common operation for disc surgery is a general anesthetic as you are face down in the operating room table. There are some back procedures that don’t need any anesthesia or minimal sedation but actual disc surgery most often needs general anesthesia
Hello. We typically do general anesthesia for all spine surgeries. Good luck on your procedure!
