You can brush very gently after 3 to 4 days making sure you do not brush the area where the blood clot is because if removed you could get another infection called a, "dry socket". Complete healing usually takes eight weeks at which time brushing the entire area is ok as long as you do not brush hard.
Usually, you can start using toothpaste after 48 hours. You still have to be careful not to spit, just let it drain.
If you are using a toothpaste containing bleaching, must wait 3 weeks. Regular toothpaste with no whitening, after 3 days.
You can brush your teeth right away, however, stay away from the extraction site, and do not spit, allow the toothpaste and water to fall out of your mouth by gravity. If you spit it may cause the blood clot over the extraction site to come out, and this may cause a dry socket, which can be very painful.
Yes, avoid the brushing with or without toothpaste till the gums over the site of extraction heal. Clean the site with salt warm water.
