Will walking on a torn meniscus make it worse?

I am a 49 year old male. I want to know if walking on a torn meniscus will make it worse?

In a general sense, "No." Let pain be your guide. Pain in the knee with weight bearing usually means something if tearing or being injured. Sometimes the meniscus needs some pressure on it to move it into the anatomical location that it was torn from and may heal.

Hello. The answer to this depends on the type of tear, location and symptoms. If you are having increasing pain, swelling, catching sensation or giving way with simple walking then yes it is likely to make it worse. If you have no symptoms with walking then it should be ok. If symptoms get worse with kneeling, squatting, stairs etc then you should not wait and get it addressed. Good luck.
