Can I give my 7 year old half an Advil?

My 7 year old son has a high fever. Can I give my 7 year old half an Advil?

Hello

Yes you can. The dose is based on the weight, so you can check with your doctor regarding the dose.
Half an advil is 200mg, and I am pretty sure your son weighs enough for that dose - dose is 10mg/kg of body weight (2.2 lb = 1 kg).
Medications for children are dosed based on weight, not age. Typical Advil tablets are 200 mg, so 1/2 a tablet would be 100 mg which would be the dose for a 20-25 lb child. Your 7-year-old probably weighs much more than that. Speak to your pediatrician about the proper dosing for common medications based on your child's weight.

Depending on your child’s weight, you can. One Advil is 200 mg ibuprofen. Your child must weigh 44 pounds and be able to swallow a pill to take that dose.
