“Can acupuncture help with insomnia?”
I am a 16 year old male. I have insomnia almost every night. Can acupuncture help with insomnia?

Yes. Acupuncture, combined with herbs, and sometimes massage, can be very effective in treating insomnia.
If it's helping pain, then it could help insomnia, but I'm not aware of acupuncture itself helping insomnia.
Research does support acupuncture and Chinese medicine (TCM) relieving insomnia. The focus would be calming the mind and easing stress. The practitioner should get to the root of the problem which may be as simple as cutting Red Bull out or no more coffee after 12pm. Please check with your parents and primary care physician to see if you are healthy enough to
try acupuncture and this complaint is not more dire.

Hi! Good afternoon,
Acupuncture has a long history. Other studies have shown that acupuncture works for people without health problems. A study in 1999 found that acupuncture improved sleep quality in normal people with insomnia. Acupuncture helps circulate energy flow and relaxes the central nervous system.

The answer is yes, and the symptoms of insomnia will be greatly improved through systematic acupuncture treatment.
Acupuncture is used to treat insomnia. If we can find the source of the symptom, then the treatment will be successful. I would recommend making an appointment with a practitioner that can further assist you. If Insomnia is left untreated, it can lead to many conditions, so it is important to address it as soon as possible.

Usually, yes.
So, insomnia isn't common in 16 year olds. Your acupuncturist would do a full work up to see what the cause is and work on correcting the cause. They may also suggest listening to a sleep meditation at night and practicing meditation a couple of times during the day together with breathing exercises. This can be an excellent addition to your lifestyle during this time. Even a short 4 minute Tabata or HIIT exercise an hour before bed could be helpful to get the body to calm down enough to be ready for sleep.
Acupuncture is excellent for insomnia. You will need to find out the cause, if it is lifestyle (like watching TV late at night or while in bed) then you will also need to change your lifestyle.
