Hi There,

Implants are standard of care in this day and age.
There is no guarantee in life on anything....Implant success rate is very high these days....Yes your body can reject implants... but it is very rare....if you are healthy, do not smoke, have not been on any long term bisphosphonates therapy, ( medications for osteoporosis like fasomax, boniva etc ), uncontrolled diabetics or immuno suppressive meds and other meds and conditions that can cause bone and tissues remodeling and healing.

Implants are very successful and predictable way to replaced broken, badly decay and missing teeth...

Respectfully,

Dr. Zoltek.
Yes, body can reject an implant and implant failure is a known complication. I would suggest talk to your dentist and find out of you are a good candidate for implants. Usually people who smoke, have uncontrolled diabetes, are own certain drugs for psychiatric issues or taking treatment for osteoporosis are at high risk.
yes
Yes your body can reject a dental implant or the implant might be unsuccessful because of many different scenarios. There are many factors that determine whether or not an implant will be successful. The best option would be go to to a dentist and have a consultation.
I suppose it could. Your body could reject any "foreign"object.
Short answer - yes.
Long answer - any foreign object placed into the body is subject to rejection, however, titanium endosseous implants (tooth implants), when placed properly in otherwise healthy individuals, show 97%-99% success over 5 years. The success rate drops only very slightly thereafter.
Implants are successful 95%+ of the time, however, smoking and other factors may influence outcomes.

It is very rare that your body would reject an implant. Implants have a 96% success rate. The 4% failure rate usually occurs in smokers or diabetics.
Hello,

Some people use that phrase when they talk about an implant failing because it is easier to understand. If you think about it, your body has all different types of cells, but it knows those cells. When you put an implant in your body (any type of implant: dental, hip, rod, etc.), it is a foreign object to your body. The goal is to get your body's immune system to not react to it. Over decades, we have discovered that titanium is great at going unnoticed by the body, so most implants are made out of titanium. That being said, dental implants can still fail because someone's immune system is trying to attach "the foreign body." While that situation is very rare, it is more likely that the implant fails for another reason. Most often, periodontal disease (most people don't understand) which can be made worse by other factors like diabetes or smoking. It is here the implant fails to lock in with your jaw bone and becomes loose and can fail.
Hope this helps.

My best to you!
