Gastroenterologist Questions Green stool

Chronic Green Stool

Over the last month I've been experiencing chronic green stools. One day it'll be light brown but then it'll be green for days. The stool is loose but not severe diarrhea. Rather the stool is brown or green they usually float. Their shape is usually jagged edges and thin. There's no foul oder but passing gas can sometimes clear the room.

I have a history of IBS-D but historically, I have no experienced green stool.

The color change does not seem to be diet related because I do not eat many leafy green veggies. I know I need to do better in that regard.

I have a 36 year history of chronic intractable pain that began at age 11. I had severe endometriosis from age 11 to 40 when I finally had a hysterectomy. The endo tissue was found on every organ except for my heart. It was all throughout my bowel. The surgeon was unable, after 7+ hours of surgery, to remove all the tissue. I still experience chronic pelvic pain.

I also have a history of gastro-reflux (GERD), and had surgery on my esophagus. I had my gallbladder removed and during my hysterectomy my appendix was removed. The lower esophageal muscle was wrapped with part of my stomach and an ulcer was repaired.

I also have interstitial cystitis, trigeminal neuralgia, TMJ, chronic migraines, chronic kidney stones, arthritis, bursitis, degenerative disc disease, herniated disc at L5/S1, cluster headaches, mild scoliosis and a few more chronic illnesses.

Due to the false narrative that prescription opioid medications have caused an "opioid crisis" my pain management doctor has become too afraid of the DEA to continue prescribing the medications I need to function, to work, to study, and to have a far better quality of life. So, he has been lowering my dose. Most days I cannot even get out of bed and a "good" day is spent on the sofa unable to clean my home, play with my pets, exercise, or to cook healthy meals. I'm lucky to get a bowl of cereal, a sandwich, or on a really good day I can sometimes manage to heat up a can of soup. I use to make all sorts of homemade soups with fresh ingredients.

Also, I have been having trouble with my grip. Intermittently I'll lose my grasp and drop things. My eyes will flutter back and forth for brief moments. It happens mostly when I focus on a still item or like when I'm reading.

I also have upper right quadrant pain and pressure. It happens in the area where my gallbladder use to be and so I was wondering if I could be having a problem with my liver. I don't drink alcohol and only drank alcohol from age 21 to 23.

Any ideas or thoughts about why I'm experiencing green stools would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and efforts.

Green stools are not a sign of pathology. Eat healthy and focus on getting help for the other non-GI ailments that you experience.
