Do pits in teeth need to be filled?

I am a 24 year old female. I want to know if pits in teeth need to be filled?

No. Pits need to be evaluated for tooth decay. If decay is present, silver diamine fluoride can be applied to arrest the decay. If no decay is present, pits can be sealed to prevent decay
Not necessarily, but they can be more prone to becoming decay. A sealant may be a good option.
It depends. If they aren't soft/sticky, then no, BUT it would be a good idea to place sealants to prevent any future cavities.

No they do not. Only if they have decay in them. If you brush twice a day and go to the dentist on a regular basis, good chance they will not become a problem.
To answer to your question, it depends how good are your hygiene is. If you can keep up with good hygiene and there is no sign of decay, then you don’t have to do the filling there. However, if it bothers you every time you eat some soft diet like biscuits or cake, it always stay down there and you have to clean really hard for it, then you can do the filling. If there is sign of discolored area, then you need to pay attention to it; if it gets more darker, then do the filling, so the answer is, it depends on the individual preference.

Good luck,

Not necessarily, but pits are where cavity tend to first occur. Since you are 24, you may not need this. I would get a second opinion from a conservative dentist.
Not always. I think what you are referring to is a sealant. Sometimes pits are sealed over to help keep bacteria and food out. This is typically done shortly after they are fully errupted (ages 12-15).

Hope this helps,

Absolutely! This is done by placing sealants. The good thing about sealants is that they prevent the bacteria from growing in the little "nooks and crannies" in your tooth, and therefore, lessen the likelihood of you getting a cavity in the future. Also, you don't need numbing medicine to have a sealant placed. :)
