Do you need anesthesia for an appendectomy?

I am a 29 year old male. I want to know if you need anesthesia for an appendectomy?

General Anesthesia is most commonly administered for an appendectomy although not absolutely required. If the surgeon and anesthesiologist agree beforehand, a spinal anesthetic can be performed and the surgery carried out safely.
I guess it would be possible for an appendectomy to be done without anesthesia, but it would be horribly unpleasant. An appendectomy is a major surgical procedure, and any patient would want to have anesthesia administered before this surgical procedure begins.

Absolutely! Anesthesia takes away pain and allows you to not know what it going on. Belly surgery typically requires protection of your airway with an endotracheal tube, however there are exceptions.
Yes, you do need Anesthesia for appendectomy. This procedure could be performed under Local anaesthetic with a fast surgeon or Local Anesthesia & iv sedation and /or regional Anesthesia with a skilled and fast surgeon in a patient who does not want General Anesthesia or it is contraindicated.
The best available option is the General endotracheal Anesthesia because the surgeon could perform open or a laparoscopic surgery in steep trendelenberg position if needed.
Yes, general anesthesia usually. Rarely this procedure can be done with a spinal anesthetic.
Yes, you do. Most of times, the procedure is done under general anesthesia, especially if the case is done laparoscopically.
Although an appendectomy can be done under a local anesthetic, it would be extremely uncomfortable for both the patient and the surgeon. It could also be done under spinal anesthesia, but general anesthesia is the standard way to proceed.
Yes. Can be general or spinal block.
