Do your ears need to be drained of wax?

I am a 42 year old male. I have never had my ears drained. Do your ears need to be drained of wax?

Everyone has ear wax and there's no set schedule of when it should be removed for each person. The only time wax needs to be removed is if it is plugging your ear canal, which your primary care physician should be able to assess. Many primary care doctors remove ear wax in their offices and, if not, they will refer you to an otolaryngologist. There are also many over-the-counter solutions to help soften the ear wax and make it easier for your doctor to remove.
No, not unless you're having a problem or feel like your ears are plugged or you're not hearing well. There's really no such thing as "draining" ears. If you have wax impaction, it gets suctioned or taken out by hand. Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
