Plastic Surgeon Questions Breast Lift

Does plastic surgery last forever?

I'm considering having a breast lift, but I was just wondering if the results from the surgery would be lasting?

Nothing is forever but results of Plastic Surgery are permanent and for surgeries such as rhinoplasty the results are permanent.
Every procedure has varying lengths of longevity and patient factors such as genetics, age, smoking, weight gain and weight loss, alcohol consumption, and sun exposure determine the longevity of Plastic Surgery procedures.

Breast lifts are a very common procedure. Typically, results can last several years and even longer. You may never need another, However, as with all tissues in your body, the breast tissue will age. Natural support within the breast will weaken and the breasts will droop to some extent over time. Factors than can affect a breast lift result longevity are 1. the quality of your skin... better elasticity, collagen content, thickness of skin, with less stretch marks will give longer lasting results. 2. the amount of breast tissue after the breast lift... the heavier the breast tissue, the more gravity will act, and the droopier the breasts can become 3. the type of breast lift and technique done. Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns.
This is a good question and I hear this question just about daily in my practice..The simple answer is that nothing lasts for ever. It very much depends on certain ligaments within your breasts, size of your breasts and a lot depends on how you take care of them. Must wear support bras at all times after surgery for at least 3 months than you can sleep without bras but use them religiously all day!
Nothing lasts forever. A breast augmentation/lift will eventually droop because the tissues around the implant will droop.
Plastic surgery does not prevent aging or loss of skin elasticity. It can reposition the Breast mound to a more favorable position by removing excess skin. Over time the bottom of breast will lengthen with gravity.
Plastic surgery results clearly turn back the clock on appearance but can't be expected to last forever. Unfortunately, the aging process, weight shifts, gravity, and other factors can affect results long term. Typically, however, the result will look improved long term compared to what the long term uncorrected appearance would be. While plastic surgery corrects things at the moment it is performed and has long term improvement, the aging process is dynamic and continues to affect appearance.
Hello,

In general terms, a breast lift will elevate the breast to a more youthful position often making them appear years or even decades younger. After the lift, your body ages naturally with the procedure. Usually, the reason for the volume loss or droop will not happen again, so the results are lasting. It is rare to have a second lift completed.
I hope this info helps.
