Optometrist Questions Glasses

Why do my eyes feel very tired after wearing glasses?

I have recently started wearing glassed, but sometimes after I take them off I just feel very tired. Could it be an initial adjustment issue or is it something else?

there could be so many things that could cause that...
a visit to your eye doc and a thorough exam is indicated at this time
While wearing glasses you may open your eyes wider or look around which may strain muscles. This leads to fatigue and eye strain which worsens vision. Make sure to relax with your glasses during the day
I recommend revisiting your eye care provider. This should not be happening,
The prescription can be the culprit; sometimes a slight distance Rx in minus can be missed if the doc failed to check the rx after dilation and you may require a near plus power, and the alignment of your eyes can be affected with an Rx. So, that could be checked. Or you can have an underlying accommodative issue.
The possible causes are: 1. Wrong prescription. 2. The lenses are not properly aligned with your eyesight. 3. You need a different material (glass, plastic, polycarbonate, hi index); polycarbonate and hi index material may cause image distortion. 4. Your eyes may be very sensitive to the tint color, or the extra coating such as anti-reflective coating. 5. The frame may be pressing too tight on your temples. Have your eye doctor or the eye technician adjust the glasses for you.
This is normal. If it doesn't get better after 1 month, then go back to your doctor for a recheck
Lenses may be too heavy or frames maybe maladjusted
Yes. Depending on the prescription and the type of lens (single vision/bifocal/progressives/computer...), your eyes may have an adjustment period. If you are still experiencing symptoms after 2-3 weeks, go back to your doctor as there is probably an adjustment that needs to be done to the prescription or frame alignment.
With being a new glasses wearer, there is normally an adjustment period to get your eyes adapted to this new RX. When going from no glasses to glasses, there is a focusing period, that can potential cause the eyes to feel tired.
It may just be an initial adjustment issue. However, if your eyes feel tired or strain after wearing for less than 5 minutes, then it maybe due to measurement errors of the frame, or an inappropriate glasses prescription. You must also know what your glasses were designed to be used for (distance only, computer only, reading only, or all the time), and use them appropriately. I would contact the eye doctor that prescribed your glasses, and voice your concerns.
