Hi, Yes, back braces will help, but it all depends on what is causing your issues. Most likely, specific exercises, usually basing them on core exercises can help to create proper alignment.
This tends to be a much more complex question then it originally looks like. This should be discussed with your Chiropractor or Orthopedic Surgeon.
Regular chiropractic care with prescribed physical therapy and massage therapy can correct curvatures depending on the severity.
Typically, there are chiropractors or osteopaths that specialize in scoliosis correction, and they will fit you with a brace that’s specifically made to fit you.

At 53 years old, this is more of a rehabilitation question. Also the type of curve is not mentioned, such as scoliosis, kyphosis, or lordosis. There are chiropractors that specialize in optimizing your spinal curvature. It takes time to change things around. You'll need specific manipulation, specific muscle balancing with stretching & strengthening, and biomechanics instruction. Wearing a back brace is to passive..
Best way to straighten up your spine is from targeted chiropractic adjustments over time. X-rays of your entire spine prior to care and then periodic X-rays, perhaps yearly, would show progress and improvements with good care. I do not recommend bracing as we have seen much better results with specific spinal adjusting.

Hello,
Using braces can help stabilize the spine, but cannot necessarily straighten the spine. That typically involves proper postural restoration exercises to be done daily and weekly for a while. Curvatures of the spine are controlled by muscles and ligaments who require time to train and retrain to their proper strength and tone. Just like working out, but with specific exercises for spinal balancing. You may be able to find some exercises on Youtube, but you may also want to visit a professional chiropractor who specializes in spinal restoration.

The answer depends on a lot of factors. What is causing your spine not to be straight? Braces work for certain types of scoliosis but are not good for other things. Go to a good chiropractor. They will be able to both help you structurally as well as give you the right advice once they see what's causing your spine to be crooked.

There are a lot of great exercises that will help straighten your spine. I recommend going to a Chiropractor or Physical Therapist to assess your spine and give you the appropriate exercises for you.
Chiropractic is a licensed doctor who does diagnosis and either preforms and/or recommends treatment. The question is what is causing the problem with the spine and that requires diagnosis. Diagnosis can't be done without an examination. If the cause is postural then Chiropractic care with it's many therapeutic treatments including exercises is the treatment of choice. However, if the problem has a structural component the treatments will still help, but may not totally eliminate the underlying cause. Don't wait to have the examination as the younger the patient is when the problems is detected and treated the better.
