“How do you get rid of eye strain?”
I am a 28 year old male. I work on the computer and have eye strain. How do you get rid of eye strain?

Get your eyes checked. You may be extra far sighted and are focusing too much. Tears help as well. Dryness is common with computer work. Take more breaks and don’t read during your break. You can wear weak reading glasses that will relax your focus. Some people find blue light filters help as well.
Depends on what's the cause of the eye strain. If you are having problems right when you start looking at the computer you need to be checked for glasses or other anatomical problems. If the string gets worse while you're working on the computer I recommend trying artificial tears. The eye likes to dry out when you stare at a device computer or book for long periods of time. Make sure you take a break every once in awhile and look away from the screen.
Eye strain is typically, although not always from under correction. An example would be someone who needs eyeglasses to read but does not wear correction, their correction is incorrect or inadequate. I recommend evaluation by an eye care professional to appropriately diagnose the problem and prescribe the correct remedy.
You need to have your eyes examined to determine what is causing the “eye strain“. It could be a refractive issue, eye alignment issue, ocular surface problem or other eye problems.

I'm so glad you asked this question! Many of us spend most of our waking hours in front of computers. This requires the eye to focus to a near point about 1.5 feet away. In patients who are farsighted, this requires a lot of focussing effort. Think about lifting weights. A farsighted person has to lift heavy weights with their eye's focussing muscle to see the computer screen clearly. Conversely, a nearsighted patient, not wearing glasses, doesn't have to lift any weights with their eye's focussing muscle to see the computer screen clearly. Thus, if you are experiencing a lot of eye strain while looking at the computer at age 28, you are likely farsighted. Fortunately, we have some great solutions for you! LASIK is a very effective treatment for farsightedness. I encourage you to seek out a refractive surgery consultation to investigate your options.

The causes of computer eye strain as so many that you first nbeed a thorough eye exam by a licensed professional such as an ophthalmologist or an optometrist. They should ask you questions about the number of screens you use, the size of the screens, and especially the layout of the screens, I.e. distance from your eyes, whether they are side by side, employ a laptop as well, etc.
You need to see an MD to evaluate where the eye strain comes from, check eye pressure and vision acuity, refraction, etc.
Eye strain may be complex. It depends on the cause. Visit your ophthalmologist for specific diagnosis.
