If you have had it your whole life it is likely not a fungus, if it came on then it would be lamisil pill once a day for 3 months to treat it.
Toenail fungus of any kind is difficult to get rid of. There are several types of over-the-counter topical medications that you can try, but be aware that when you use a medication topically (prescription or OTC), you are looking at anywhere between 9 months to 3-4 years of treatment, sometimes with no resolution of the issue. The best way to treat onychomycosis (toenail fungus) is with an oral medication. This medication must be monitored, and it must be prescribed by a physician. You will take the oral medication for 3-4 months, and it will still take a full 9 months to resolve the issue in most cases.
Toenail fungus can be difficult to treat. Treatment can include oral medication, topical medication or surgery. I recommend you make an appointment with a podiatrist (foot and ankle surgeon) for more information
Toenail fungus isn't usually white. Sometimes trauma can cause white discoloration of the nail, but it should grow out.
You should have this checked. There are several methods from topical medication to pills and laser therapy. See your podiatrist to determine which is right for you
White superficial onychomycosis is its naming. Try OTC topicals first. If that fails, see a podiatrist.
