I am a 50 year old male. I want to know if you can fix bunions without surgery?

A bunion cannot be fixed without surgery, a bunion is a misalignment of the big toe joint, so in order to fix it, then the joint has to be realigned. Bunion surgery can be scary, my office, bunions are fixed via minimally invasive approach with in-office procedure, no hardware is used, local anesthesia only, and patients walk on the same day. Please go to my office's social media for testimonials.
In my clinic, we do make custom bunion splints. But this is more to help it progress. Unfortunately, the only way to fix a bunion is with surgery.

While there are many devices on the market that make claims of fixing bunions, it’s important to note that none of these products are FDA approved for such. A bunion is a deformity which, in most cases, will require some form of surgical correction if you are having excessive pain, or difficulty walking or tolerating shoes. Most of these devices can protect the side of the foot in shoes, but do not change the deformity. A complete evaluation of your foot and how you walk can help you figure out what will work best for you.
No. Sometimes you can reduce the pain and progression of the bunion with orthotics or a splint but these will not reverse your bunion.
No. Unfortunately bunions are caused by an underlying bony problem in your feet. There are splints and toe spacers that can be used for symptomatic relief but it won’t change the underlying condition.
No, there are other devices such as orthotics which can help keep them from getting worse and help control any pain, but they cannot be fixed without some kind of surgery.
