“How long does eye bag surgery last?”
I am a 37 year old female. I want to know how long does eye bag surgery last?

When lower lid bags are removed and done properly, they should never return. However, this requires opening the lid under direct vision to be assured of accurate and total removal. More to the point, there is often a hollow at the junction of the lid and cheek. This requires using the fat as a living flap (not an unpredictable graft). I have never had a redo in 30 years.
Great question. The truth is most plastic surgery lasts a lifetime. What that means is when we do “eye bag surgery” or what we usually refer to as lower lid blepharoplasty with fat removal, we remove bulging fat from under the eyes and sometimes reposition it in a location that fills in grooves around the eyes (this is called fat pad repositioning). We then remove extra skin from the lower eyelids. As the result of this surgery the bags are gone. However, what we can’t do is to stop you from aging. What that means is that you will continue to age, your skin will increase in laxity and more fat from around your eye will bulge through in time. Now this can be anywhere from 10 to 20 years later and usually is not to the same degree as how it was initially. That’s why I say the results last a lifetime.
First of all, your age is usually too young for this surgery. This surgery is usually late, like 60-75 years old. But, if done correctly by an experienced surgeon, can be once or twice in a lifetime.
Most aesthetic surgery can last 5-10 yrs depending on age at the time of surgery. The earlier surgery is done , the greater duration can be. Other factors contribute to successful outcomes and duration including sun exposure, smoking and alcohol intake, medical issues, etc.
Eye bag surgery - referred to as lower eyelid blepharoplasty - if done on its own, generally takes between 30 and 60 minutes to perform depending on the specifics of the case.
