I am a 17 year old male. I want to know how long does it take for elastics to start working?

Almost immediately
Iā€™m guessing that you are referring to your ortho treatment. The effectiveness of elastics is so case dependent that I would not be able to give you an adequate answer. Often it take 3-6 months or more.
They work pretty quickly, very often in a week. But it depends what kind of movement you are achieving. Sometimes you have to wear them for several months to accomplish the movement.
If you are talking about elastics in orthodontic treatment, they start working immediately. Every case is different. Some teeth can move into proper position in 3-4 weeks, and others take 2-3 years. Assuming of course everything has been done properly. At 17 years old, movement should be on the quicker side of the equation.
This varies from case to case. Best to ask your orthodontist.
Elastics in orthodontics start to work the minute they are placed. The movement is more subtle then tightening your wires so they may not feel like they are working but they are.
