“I feel sudden dizziness. Why is this?”
I am 42 years old and there are times when I suddenly feel very dizzy. I also feel heavy on my head especially when I bend down and come up. What could this be? Is this a sign of vertigo?

If vertigo is totally related to head movements without nausea/vomiting, headache or fever then it is likely Benign Positional paroxysmal Vertigo which is fixable by a Physical therapist. But I would suggest to go to your PCP to rule out any concerning or dangerous causes.
Hi,
That sounds like vertigo, or labrynthitis, but other things need to be checked, e.g., your heart, for murmurs, cholesterol levels, calf and thigh pains for DVT, etc., weight for height, exercise, activity level. A good time to be seen by your local physician.

There are a number of reasons for dizziness - anemia, hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease, dehydration, etc. The fact that you have a heavy feeling in your head when you bend down suggests a sinus infection. The definition of vertigo is - a sensation of whirling and loss of balance, associated particularly with looking down from a great height, or caused by disease affecting the inner ear or the vestibular nerve; giddiness. It does not seem that you have vertigo by your description.
I would recommend a physical exam and evaluation with lab tests.

There are dozens of causes of dizziness, and there isn’t enough information here to begin to come up with a diagnosis. Please see your doctor to have this evaluated.
Position changes that cause Dizziness can be anything from anemia to cardiovascular to neurological to ENT problem and a whole multitude of other possible diagnoses. A thorough evaluation would be necessary. Please consult a physician in person.
Possibly something called benign position vertigo. However, before coming to that, could you be dehydrated?
