Musculoskeletal Oncology Questions Growth

I have a growth on my leg. Could it be cancer?

I noticed a growth on my leg while showering, and it's pretty large. I haven't hit it on anything to cause a bump or a bruise, and it really hasn't gone away. Could this be cancerous? It also seems like it's growing. And also, if it isn't (after I get it looked at), should I get it removed?

Thank you for your question.
I would definitely have this checked out. I would be happy to see you for this. I cannot tell you definitively what this mass could be. However, a mass that is growing, without prior history of trauma or falls, needs to be worked up.
This sounds like something that needs to be checked immediately. A good place to start would be with a dermatologist or a general surgeon.
If it has been growing, yes, it could be cancer. I would first get an MRI of the affected area and then you may require a biopsy to see what this may be. Make certain you see a cancer surgeon/surgical oncologist to appropriately work up this mass. A general surgeon may act too quickly when surgery may not be the appropriate first treatment.
Hello,

First, I want to say please try to remain calm. Cancer can only be diagnosed based on appropriate testing (i.e., imaging and pathology). I recommend that you make an appointment with a surgeon and allow him/her to exam the growth on your leg. Based on the examination, if further investigation is needed, that surgeon will order tests or imaging that will give him/her a deeper insight into the kind of growth it is. For now, just consider it a growth.

Once again, remain calm, but please make an appointment to see a surgeon soon. Have an awesome day and God bless.
